To start off I hope everyone had a nice weekend. And I hope you all have already listened to the entire new JFAC album multiple times. If you haven’t yet “Demonocracy” is streaming in full on Revolver. Check it out here. It is pretty brutal and way more tech than the last.
Also this is older news but still completely awesome nonetheless: Oceano isn’t breaking up! They posted on their facebook page last week that the rumors were indeed true and they were not breaking up. They have a bunch of gigs coming up as well.
Last week Behemoth had to cancel a show in Ohio due to “conflicting religious beliefs” with the venue owners. They posted this on facebook:
Wow, big motherfuckin’ WOW! We are facing a legendary moment: Amerika, the land of the free, is banning Behemoth coz of religious beliefs. The madness starts in Ohio, but of korz we r playing anyway. Nothing can stop us now. God, please save me from this freedom…”
Agoura Hills, CA – April 3rd, 2012 – The highly anticipated inaugural Decibel Magazine tour kicks off in a mere eight days in Columbus, OH. It wasn’t too late, however, for the venue owners to prohibit the bands from appearing at The Brewmaster’s Gate. Behemoth, Watain, The Devil’s Blood, and In Solitude are being forbidden from playing at the venue because of religious conflicts with the venue owners. These bands are no strangers to this type of treatment, and a new venue has already been confirmed. The Columbus, OH show will now be at Al Rosa.
How ridiculous is that!? I wish people wouldn’t be so ignorant…
Here is the newest video from Upon A Burning Body’s upcoming album. The track is called “Once Upon A Time In Mexico”. It’s surprisingly melodic at points. They not only kept the gang vocals but seemed to add more. I think if i listen to it multiple times it slowly gets better.
Death metal band Dying Fetus have also dropped a new track from their upcoming album. I’m sure you’ve all heard it plenty of times by now, I know I have. It’s heavy!! It’s called “Subjected To A Beating”.
Slayer just released some more strange merch. This time it’s pretty cool. It’s a red wine called “Reign In Blood” but unfortunately it is only being sold in Sweden. Bummer!
Some sad news was released a few days ago. Jim Marshall, founder of Marshall amps, passed away at the age of 88. The Marshall website released this statement:
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved founder and leader for the past 50 years, Jim Marshall. While mourning the Guv’nor though, we also salute a legendary man who led a full and truly remarkable life.
Jim’s ascent into the history books as ‘the Father of Loud’ and the man responsible for ‘the Sound of Rock’ is a true rags-to-riches tale. Cruelly robbed of his youth by tubercular bones, Jim rose to become one of the four forefathers responsible for creating the tools that allowed rock guitar as we know and love it today to be born. The ground breaking quartet also includes the late, great trio of Leo Fender, Les Paul and Seth Lover – together with Jim, they truly are the cornerstones of all things rock.
In addition to the creation of the amps chosen by countless guitar heroes and game changing bands, Jim was also an incredibly humble and generous man who, over the past several decades, has quietly donated many millions of pounds to worthy causes.
While the entire Marshall Amplification family mourns Jim’s passing and will miss him tremendously, we all feel richer for having known him and are happy in the knowledge that he is now in a much better place which has just got a whole lot louder!
Rest in Peace & thank you Jim.
Your memory; the music and joy your amps have brought to countless millions for the past five decades; and that world-famous, omnipresent script logo that proudly bears your name will always live on.
So anyone who was hoping to see a plane flying across the sky with Euronymous’ face on it would be sad to know that he will not be the new face of Norwegian Air. Even though he won the contest his family decided to remove his name from the contest. Bummer!
It looks like everyone is hating on Mustaine lately! Including the President. After Mustaine’s commentary about Obama stating that he wasn’t born in America the president responded with this:
Dave Mustaine has a lot of questions about me? Well I have a lot of questions about him! How do we know he really had anything to do with those songs on [Metallica’s] Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Lightning? I didn’t see him write them, did you? I’m not questioning it, I just… I know he didn’t write any of those riffs. How come he was invisible until he became whatever he was in Megadeth?
And he wasn’t the only one this week to comment about Mustaine. In an interview with MetalSucks Glen Benton had this to say in response to a question with Mustaine.
What about someone like Dave Mustaine who became a Christian and supports Santorum?
He’s a prolapsed rectum. One minute you’re in, the next you’re out. Let’s just say prolapsed rectum.
And we can’t forget Oderus Urungus’ comments a bit ago regarding Mustaine:
…Dave Mustaine, every time he opens his mouth, he makes a fucking idiot out of himself. You know what? Keep your fucking mouth shut, Dave Mustaine. Play your fucking guitar, alright, maybe keep it to the lyrics to “Peace Sells”… Everything else… We don’t wanna fucking hear about how Obama was born in Africa and how Rick Santorum is your man — he hates fucking heavy metal. Shut the fuck up, Dave Mustaine. SHUT THE FUCK UP, you god cocksucking faggot.
It seems that everyone is drinking the Dave Mustaine haterade lately.
For now I’ll stick to cheap beer and continue to observe what might as well be a flame war of the World vs Mustaine. Take it easy and most importantly keep it metal. \m/
